Aluminum composite panel – consists of two layers of aluminum foil and plastic (polyethylene). The plastic layer is inside the panel, and aluminum foil covers it on both sides of the panel. Due to the plastic layer inside, the panel is light, and the covering aluminum layer makes it strong and prevents the plastic from expanding or contracting due to temperature fluctuations. In addition, the aluminum foil is coated with a paint layer and laminated with a very thin plastic layer (PE), which protects the surface from harmful atmospheric factors and allows the color to remain unchanged for a long time. Panels intended for interior work and advertising production are usually made of 0.21-0.3 mm foil thickness. Although these panels are designated as intended for interior work, they can also be used outdoors or for facades, it is only necessary to consider that such panels are usually given a maximum five-year warranty and the thickness of the aluminum foil is not sufficient to maintain the surface of the panel smooth (not dented) for a long period.

Sign and icon are often used synonymously, but they have different meanings. A sign (lat. signum) is a general name for any understandable image, symbol, word or action that has meaning. A pictogram (lat. pictus + gr. gramma) is a graphic information sign, a small picture, often used in computer environments to represent folders, programs or other elements.

So, although an icon is a sign, not every sign is an icon. For example, a road sign is a sign, but not an icon. An icon is more defined as a specific type of sign that has a visual form and is used to convey information, especially in a digital environment.

The difference between DB and ADB panels is the surface coating.

DB – aluminum composite panel (DIBOND®)

This is a strong panel consisting of a plastic core and aluminum layers on both sides. Printing or information graphics are glued to it.

✔ Resistant to moisture, temperature changes and environmental influences

✔ Suitable for signs, tables, signboards used in outdoor conditions

✘ Does not have a reflective effect

ADB – reflective aluminum composite panel

This is the same strong aluminum composite panel, but its surface is additionally covered with a reflective film.

✔ During the day, it is as visible as a regular sign

✔ When illuminated by car headlights or other light source – it strongly reflects light

✔ Better visibility in the dark

✔ Most often used for road signs, safety and warning signs

In short:

DB – a strong composite panel with a regular surface.

ADB – the same plate, only with a reflective layer, which makes the sign more visible in the dark.

“If the sign will only be visible during the day – DB is enough. If visibility at night or when illuminated by car headlights is important – choose ADB.”
