If a building intended for residential, non-residential, or other purposes (educational, cultural, religious, sports, hotel, medical, recreational, etc.) lacks a designated shelter against external threats, one (or more) of its existing rooms can be adapted and equipped as a safe room. People could take shelter and find protection there. The room must be equipped with the necessary supplies to ensure people can safely remain inside for 3–5 days, or until the danger has passed or evacuation takes place.

Purpose: To mark a safe room and its location. It helps people quickly locate a room adapted for temporary shelter against external threats.

Hazard: External threats, emergencies, the threat of war, explosions, air pollution, and other events endangering human health or life.

Human behavior: In the event of danger, proceed calmly and immediately to the safe room marked by the sign, follow the instructions of authorized personnel and emergency services, and remain there until further notice or evacuation.
