Ionizing radiation source or their packaging

Intended for marking high-activity - 1, 2 and 3 categories of hazardous ionizing radiation sources (hereinafter - sources) or their packaging, which may be in radiation therapy devices used in medicine, industrial radiography or other areas.

The sign is not intended for marking packages or containers of transported sources, or for marking doors to premises.

The ionizing radiation hazard warning sign clearly displays the ionizing radiation symbol (black trefoil), radiated waves, death emblem (skull with two crossed bones) and a tall man.

This sign is not recommended for placement on external transport packages, cargo containers, vehicle surfaces or at entrances to buildings, but for use on radioactive sources or in very close proximity to the source. This means that it is visible during poor use, but it can be seen as an extraordinary warning about the effects of ionizing radiation when trying to dismantle a sealed radioactive source. The aim is that the sign is made as an additional, final warning if the most commonly used tri-fold sign on the outside does not work.

The main and additional use of ionizing radiation signs is regulated by the Lithuanian hygiene standard HN 73:2018, "Basic radiation safety standards".
